A Thousand Lashes vs. a Thousand Apologies - Richard Butrick

by Richard Butrick

The Islam peace and tolerance mantra is so fundamental to Obama-think that, as Roger Simon writes in PJMedia, putting the words ‘Islamic’ and ‘terrorist’ together would shatter the PC-world view that is at the foundation of his sense of superiority and purpose.

In his “apology” tour of 2009, just after assuming office, President Obama bowed with great deference before King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. Despite claims from the White House secretary that the president was just bending over to shake the king’s hand, one angle from the rear shows the full sole of the president’s right shoe with his head and shoulders below the king’s head.

And now we have 50 lashes a week for 20 weeks for Raif Badawi for saying that he “rejects repression in the name of religion.” This was taken as an implied slur against the Saudi royalty and defaming Islam.

It is the official position of the Obama administration that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance which upholds fundamental human rights. Here is Secretary of State Kerry intoning the administration’s position after the beheading of journalist Steven Soltoff.
The real face of Islam is a peaceful religion based on the dignity of all human beings. It’s one where Muslim communities are leading the fight against poverty. It’s one where Muslim communities are providing basic healthcare and emergency assistance on the front lines of some of our most devastating humanitarian crises. And it is one where Muslim communities are advocating for universal human rights and fundamental freedoms, including the most basic freedom to practice one’s faith openly and freely.
The Islam peace and tolerance mantra is so fundamental to Obama-think that, as Roger Simon writes in PJMedia, putting the words ‘Islamic’ and ‘terrorist’ together would shatter the PC-world view that is at the foundation of his sense of superiority and purpose.

Would not a “real” president be outraged at the violation of Human Rights in the inhuman brutality of 50 lashes a week for 20 weeks for exercising the right to free speech? And the president is outraged at waterboarding? There is something very strange in the president’s selective moral outrage. Maybe the bent knee bow before the Saudi king reveals more about his loyalty structures and world view than just a bit of overdone diplomatic courtesy?
